Compliance
Today, we live in an ever-changing, complex world full of regulations. Understanding and keeping track of all these demanding details can be overwhelming for any business to manage.
Atlantic Metro is here to help you meet that overwhelming challenge.
We have already gone through some of the trouble for you by completing a SAS70 audit. Knowing that Atlantic Metro's services and facilities are SAS70 compliant will help you to achieve the IT compliance your business requires whether it be HIPAA, PCI DSS, or the Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX).
- Atlantic Metro's Compliance Solutions include:
- SAS70 compliant data centers in 3 key markets—New York,
Chicago, Los Angeles - SAS70 compliant Network Operations Center
- SAS70 compliant systems management
- Off-site backup
- Diverse path network connectivity
- 3 Most Common IT Compliance Needs:
- HIPAA—HIPPA stands for Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act. HIPPA was enacted by the US Congress in 1996 to help protect the privacy of patient records and promote the efficient electronic exchange of patient information for better safety and productivity throughout the US healthcare system.
- PCI DSS—PCI DSS stands for Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard.
The first version of the PCI DSS was released in 2004 by the major credit card companies Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, and JCB to help protect their cardholders' account information and to help prevent credit card fraud. - SOX—SOX is the commonly used acronym that refers to the Sarbanes-Oxley Act. The Sarbanes-Oxley Act was enacted by the US Congress and President in 2002
in response to corporate and accounting scandals of major public companies, such as Enron. The act contains reforms for all publicly-held companies' boards and management, and public accounting firms in the US. The act is also known as the Public Company Accounting Reform and Investor Protection Act of 2002.
Green Initiatives
- Recycling:
- Thirsty? We recycle all those plastic water bottles, coke cans, etc. our employees are imbibing in everyday. Such a simple thing adds up and goes a long way.
- We recycle or reuse all cardboard from deliveries that come to our facilities.
- If we do have to print a document, it is on recycled paper.
- Reducing Waste:
- We set up a beverage center in our kitchen for our own espresso, coffee, and loose leaf teas served in real old-fashioned reusable washable cups, eliminating the need for all the coffee pickups from, well, you know where!
- We ask lunch deliveries to not include the plastic utensils and use our silverware instead. If we receive packaged plasticware from them anyway, we try to donate them rather than just throw them away.
- Paperless Invoicing—We have been sending PDF invoices for over 6 years, saving paper and fossil fuels it takes to deliver the mail.
- Paperless Bills—We also urge our vendors to only send us electronic invoices.
- Paperless Faxes—We receive all faxes electronically via email and store these documents digitally on our servers, generally without the need to ever print them.
- Reducing Electricity, Reducing Our Carbon Footprint:
- In the data center—We implement "blanking panels" to control and make cooling and heating dispursion more efficient.
- We only deploy high efficiency CPUs. All internal servers that power Atlantic Metro's website, email servers, and monitoring servers are high efficiency/low voltage, thus reducing the amount of power we draw to operate our business.
- Lights in the data center are turned off when not required.
- In the office—All employee' use Apple laptops that are the greenest and most effecient laptops on the market today.
- We maximize the use of natural available daylight. In fact, we often do not have the need for any extra room lights on during daylight hours!
- At the end of the day, we shut off our lights and computers.
- Green Transportation:
- Employees are always encouraged to use public transportation whenever possible.
